The day of the Yellow-Crowned Night Heron

A pair of Yellow-Crowned Night Heron have returned to their nest from last year.  It is literally on a slim branch of an Australian Pine that is stretched far over the water behind our home.  It seems like a precarious place to build a nest, but I guess it is out of the reach of the raccoon and the gators.  Today, the pair were all cuddled up on the nest.  Not far away on either side of the pair were 3 more Yellow-Crowned Night Heron.  We wondered if they might be their young from last year.

The pair were all cuddled up and were a bit hidden.

And, of course, I couldn't pass up a photo of a sweet little duck posing so pretty for me surrounded by all this wonderful color!
